Don't vote!!

With the help of this video clip celebrities, like Leonardo DiCaprio, Eva Longoria, Ashton Kutcher and co, want to encourage American youth to register to vote in the presidential election in 2008! Young people , much more than elder people, feel somehow connected to young celebrities-actors, actresses, singers- in the way that they see them as their rolemodels. It is a worldwide phenomenon. Most young people in America and in Germany( and in other countries) watch Leonardo DiCaprio movies or listen to the music of will i. am; they watch th great success and the great career of these famous people. As they are fans of them, many youngsters celebrate their rolemodels- they hang up posters on their walls, look for similar clothes and styles, go to concerts or events where they look forward to seeing their sweethearts (in some cases =) ). Now, watching this video clip, in which a multiplicity of actors and singers animate the youth to vote, the young people feel in a way connected to their rolemodels. They are directly invited by them to join the election. And this is the goal of the campaign- it succeeds!!

  1. Hey I like your blog!
I believe the fact that celebrities put so much effort to support Obama was a great gift for Obama. I even believe that it was one of the most importnat reasons why he won the election at all.
So many people see celebs as their rolemodels, and if they vote for Obama then girls who got a crush on Leonardo Dicaprio do also vote for Obama.

  2. Very nice blog, especially the design is very creative ;-)
Really interesting post, because I think most people don't realize that celebrities influence them so much, because it is often an unconscious process. Especially for young voters I agree that they can be well influenced by those celebrities that are very popular all over the world, because they are definetly role models for them. Despite all these aspect I like the video itself a lot, because it is great that celebrities use their popularity to encourage young voters ;-)
    Great job!

  3. Hey, interesting post!
The video you posted really hit it off! I didn't quite realize before how much those celebrities could influence a young person to go vote. It has been a clever trick to organize many of them together to make that clip. Though I think, the introduction in which they state that you shouldn't vote was a little bit too long. (Not that you could've changed that, I'm aware of that fact ;)). People who aren't interested in the elections at all might see those first seconds and not care about the turn later on. Yet I assume that most of the people waited to hear their idols out. And yeah, the effect seems to have been great. I guess noone took a poll on how such videos changed the teenager's choice to vote, or did you find something there?

  4. Getting celebrities to get people to vote is always good, and most of the time it actually gets young people to vote. But celebrities can also use their power and influence to get young people to vote for the candidate they are voting for. In Obama's case this was obviously helpful but imagine known celebrities cheering for somebody like Bush. (That will probably never happen but it could!)
